What I Got on Mother’s Day

I have been practicing minimalism and simplicity (nose getting longer and about to get choked! Hee hee, but seriously, I DO!) for quite some time now. It feels so good to declutter and be able to enjoy life’s simplest pleasure. I even told dear hubby not to spend a single cent for Mother’s Day nor eat out because it can get so crowded in restos during these times. However, Baba and DH couldn’t resist showing their appreciation of me. I woke up so early on Mother’s Day as I was about to research on this site, www.equote.com, when Baba came up to me and handed this priceless purse with interesting facts about me . The next day, there’s a gift from dear hubby waiting for me in our bed as soon as I got home from work. Sweet boys, what more could I ask for? Hope you all had a super awesome days super moms!

Baba is 7!

So Baba turned 7 almost 3 weeks ago.
This has got to be our most anticipated birthday because 7 is such a big milestone. But what do you know, it ended up to be a quiet and nothing fancy celebration. We had some guests over to witness him blow this birthday cake and I cooked a couple of dishes which were placed in a lazy susan turntable.

…and just before his day ended, dear hubby’s boss and son came over to bring these gifts.

Thank you dear Lord for the healthy 7 years. Please keep him in your loving guidance forever. Now, the count down to Disneyworld begins.

On Taking Medications

I am very careful with administering over the counter drugs to Baba, more so when I was pregnant with him. If I could avoid giving him medicines, I would. I am glad that his pediatrician thinks of the same thing. In fact, she does not recommend giving vitamins anymore. But of course, I give him vitamins that my mom bought from my home country. Yes, we must be very watchful with the content of the vitamins we give to our kids. 10-day Spring Break: A Recap

It is a very quiet and early Sunday morning on my side of the woods. Surprisingly, I was able to wake up 3 hours earlier than my usual weekend mornings call-time despite our very tiring but fun beach trip yesterday. Probably, I had too much food that are still being digested, hence, I cannot sleep well. That, and my early morning Spring allergies are attacking me again.

A friend asked me how I scheduled and planned Baba’s 10-day Spring Break considering both me and DH are working fulltime. So before I check on this article that concerns the question: is vicerex scam?, let me share a short recap on Baba’s Spring break. We really had to plan out activities during this 10-day Spring break, it would be so much easier if you plan it out with a co-parent who also has an only child. Both DH and I had to take a couple of days leave alternately to cover some days. We survived the Spring break without paying for any childcare services. Two days were spent with A’s (Baba’s bestbud) mom, they went to the Children’s Museum, watched a movie, Chuck E Cheese’s and Playdates at A’s home. A couple more days, they spent playdates at our home. Both weekends during this 10-day Spring break were spent with us, one weekend we had A to tag along. Then we went for a short trip to Washington, D.C. and a few other beaches in the nearby towns.

Watching out for our Health’s state

I have been trying my very best to practice healthy and mindful eating in our family at the beginning of this year. So far, we have been good and even if there are times we get derailed from time to time, we realized this is a good start. Also, we have started juicing and I am glad that Baba loves the carrot juice his dad and I are preparing. More than these, we are also in the middle of researching the best and most comprehensive term insurance rates online to upgrade that life insurance we have right now.

Fave Snack

When it comes to eating habits and favorite foods, Baba and I share a lot of similarities. This is the reason why our choices of restaurants always win rather than Baba’s Dad. At the beginning of this year, we discovered this fave snacks, Smucker’s Goober. He gets the grape flavor while I love the strawberry flavor. However, I need to workout double time after eating 2 sandwiches with this filling on them because of high calorie-content, which reminds me I need to check out the Yoga session in the gym and buy these yoga socks.

Yoga For Kids

Last January, our local library offered Yoga Program for Kids and that was the time I discovered yogadirect yogitoes. We were hesitant to enroll Baba at the beginning of their session because he is such a ball of energy and we are not sure if he could keep still. However, after their trial session, we were amazed by how much Baba loves the program.

Wants a Pet

The first time Baba saw a Panda bear at the National Zoo in D.C., he wanted to bring him home and buy him one of these huge pet crates. He was just a toddler back then. But recently, as he is nearing his 7th birthday, all he ever wanted is a cute little puppy for his very 1st pet. With the kind of hectic schedule we have plus considering the size of our apartment, it is not advisable to get one. Thank heavens for relatives who constantly share their pets with us as we have been adopting their pets bi-monthly hee hee.

Music Program for Kids

DH and I have already started to plan out Baba’s Summer activities. Since we are bound to so many long-driving trips this Summer, we plan on just giving him 3 major activities, a Music program (which teaches how to play epiphone acoustic guitars), Swimming Class and perhaps, Kumon. This would only take about 3-4 days everyweek and what is he gonna do the rest of the week? Play, play, play!
